This week we take a look at the difference between a 7.0 and an 8.0 as we now have numerous students who need or are not satisfied with a 7.0
📚 The following essay was written by a working Hong Kong mom who already achieved a 7.0 in writing but is determined to rise to an 8.0
Observe the comments:
🔖 Just not amazing.
8.0 needs to be amazing. Top 1%.
You demonstrate some lexical flexibility, in tandem with near perfect natural syntax, see suggestions to make it more fluid. There is really only 1 grammatical error, a missing preposition, as well as only one instance of unnatural second language or beginner collocation: see suggestions. Salient complex conjunctions, sign posting linkers, or synonyms and examples of lexical resource, are noted.
🔖 However, not enough grammatical range is demonstrated, a fatal flaw, nor any scintillating lexis.
Good, not great. Close, but no cigar, no champagne.
Your best sentence was “considering that”. More like this will help.
Some suggestions are made to make the essay embellished and more refined as expected of the standard of an 8.0
Eg: “… when I will not only be able to settle the outstanding balance but further would be delighted to continue as your longstanding and grateful tenant.
I thank you in advance for your kind attention and further await your indulgence.
